The soul which incarnated in the human personality known as Dr. Dinshah K. Mehta is one of the very few firstborn high souls who abide with God in the spiritual plane known as the highest heaven. Christ said words to the effect, “In my father’s kingdom there are many mansions”. This is an indication that in the Kingdom of Heaven, there are many planes of consciousness where spiritual beings at various levels in the Divine hierarchy live and fulfill the Divine Will. Based upon Divine revelations, we accept that Dr. Dinshah K. Mehta’s soul descended from and abides in the highest heaven. Dr. Mehta was lovingly called “Dadaji” by his followers. Dadaji means elder brother in the languages of North and Central India.
His Life
Dadaji’s mother was born into the Zarathusti faith, which is the first religion to teach monotheism and was started in ancient Persia through the Prophet Zarathustra. She was a very devout woman who had enthroned the Prophet Zarathustra in her heart and prayed to Him for hours every day. Her family home was in the town of Jalna, in the state of Hyderabad in what was at the time British India. One night as she lay on a bed in a room by herself with the doors closed and locked, and did not know that she was with child, the room suddenly lit up as if it was mid-day. In those days, there were no electric lights in Jalna. She then saw a bearded man with long hair in white robes enter the room through the closed door. To her, the man resembled the Prophet Zarathustra. He knelt down beside her and placed his hand in the air over her womb and said words to the effect, “This is the reward for all your prayers.” The man then walked out of the room through the wall. She then found one white and one red rose on her bed. Following this incident, she had a normal pregnancy and a male child was born in a hospital in Bombay on June 5th in the year 1903. The child was named Dinshah.
From a young age, Dinshah had a unique personality. At an early age (between 5 and 7 years old) Dinshah concluded that the purpose of life was perfection. At that time, since the only thing he knew about himself was his human body, he decided to make it as perfect as possible. His body was so well developed that at the age of 17, when he was exercising in the gym of the individual who organized the weightlifting competition which young Dinshah had entered, the organizer requested him to, as part of the program, demonstrate muscle control on stage. He posed as some of the statues of Greek Gods, such as Mercury, Mars, Apollo, and Discobolo, the discus thrower. The event was so successful that by popular demand, Dinshah was asked to repeat the performance in several theaters of Bombay and Poona. His performances lifted the spirits of those who watched. At the end of one performance, 30,000 Indian Rupees (which in those days was a good deal of money) was collected to start a bodybuilding club and health facility in Bombay.
As a young man, Dinshah taught himself various methods of natural healing and established his Nature Cure Clinic and Sanatorium in the cities of Poona and Bombay. Mahatma Gandhi heard about the systems of natural healing Dr. Mehta was using successfully and started sending patients to him. Eventually, in the year 1932, Mahatma Gandhi had a telegram sent to Dr. Mehta summoning him to Bombay. Dr. Dinshah K. Mehta met Mahatma Gandhi at Mani Bhavan, on Hughes Road, Bombay, where Mahatma Gandhi stayed. Mani Bhavan is now preserved as a historical monument.
Later their relationship grew to the extent that Mahatma Gandhi made Dr. Mehta’s institution in Poona his home, and many of the meetings of the All India Congress Committee were held there. Many of the political leaders of India who were part of the struggle to gain independence from the British were Dr. Mehta’s patients. Among them were Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru, Jaya Prakash Narayan, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur as well as Sir and Lady Stafford Cripps. It is Sir Stafford Cripps who headed the three-man commission that was sent by Great Britain to grant independence to India.
Subsequently, Mahatma Gandhi along with Dr. Mehta and several others founded the All India Nature Cure Foundation Trust, and Mahatma Gandhi became the first Chairman of the Trust. Rev. Dadaji gave his property to this Trust and eventually, the Government of India took charge of the Trust.
